THE STELLA AWARD

All of the films selected for this year’s student film fest showcase the cinematic discoveries our students have made as emerging filmmakers. The four selected films for the Stella Award represent the “Best Films” of the film fest because of their noteworthy cinematic qualities as well as their impressive ability to tell compelling stories.

The Stella Award was created in honor of Dr. Stella Theodoulou, former Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Vice Provost, and Interim Provost, at California State University Northridge (CSUN), who championed the partnership between CSUN and UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico). Under her leadership and determination, many binational programs like the film fest were initiated and continue to thrive.

Todas las películas seleccionadas para el festival de cine estudiantil de este año presentan los descubrimientos cinematográficos que nuestros estudiantes, como cineastas emergentes, han encontrado Las cuatro películas seleccionadas para el Premio Stella representan las “Mejores películas” del festival de cine debido a sus notables cualidades cinematográficas, así como a su impresionante capacidad para contar historias convincentes.

El Premio Stella fue creado en honor a la Dra. Stella Theodoulou, ex-decana de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y del Comportamiento, vice rector y provost Interino, en la Universidad Estatal de California Northridge (CSUN), quien defendió la asociación entre CSUN y UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México). Bajo su liderazgo y determinación, muchos programas binacionales como el festival de cine se iniciaron y continúan prosperando.
